Anticipation

In farewell
Summer’s waning
Shortened days
Fire’s deep glow
Hearth’s invitation
Curling smoke
Trickling skyward

Swallow’s flight
Frost’s first kiss
Reddish orange, browns
Crackling leaves
Soft melody
Passing testament
Fruit falls

Yellow aspens
Fragrant spruce
Wilderness scent
On the prowl
Harvest bounty
Moonlit rays
Morning mists

Fall’s heart beats
My heart beats
Then as one
Future days
Already passed
Alone, now together
Anticipation

Great words on autumn. Long time no see.

I really liked this! Not a huge fan of autumn, but if it were as you describe it here (none of that gray, depressing stuff that goes on outside my window at this time of the year) I might actually get to like it.

I can certainly feel fall's heartbeat in every verse. Beautifully written.
