A Season in Time

A view down the bike path in Xenia, Ohio , (HDR image)

October’s eve has come again
Reddish brown leaves fall, drifting
Floating lazily, dying one by one
Collecting haphazardly in piles on the ground
Then bouncing back from nothingness, anticipating
With the sights and smells of autumn filling the air

As the wind meanders through the fields of grain
Secretly weaving through the harvest stalks
Speaking as a quiet rustle, whispering
Straining to be heard over the equinox of change
The day has on gray-clad shoes
And a cool breeze calls to the distant chill

As summer changes to fall, trudging into winter’s grip
Nature will thirst for summer’s warmed and lazy days
We will dream of cotton candy and the county fair
While counting our blessings for the time we share
So it seems these seasons come and go, subliminally
And our time quickly slips away with such eventuality

A natural progression, marching onward
And a thought of seasons yet to come
I am like a child, with the wonderment of a child
Watching, seeing, observing without judgment
How to be thankful for all that surrounds me?
How to be thankful; for being a part of it all?
